Last week’s edition of “RapFix Live” (September 21) featured special guest and Philadelphia rhyme slinger Freeway – along with his signature beard. Gracing the infamous red couch with our own Sway Calloway, Freeway chopped it up and spoke about his ongoing independent grind and plans to continue to stay free of obligations as long as he’s able – but did hint that he would align himself with the right team if presented with the chance.
Sway, holding down the hosting duties, used his journalistic savvy to challenge Philly Freezer on what situations out there would make sense for the longtime veteran spitter. But before that, Freeway explained to Sway that he’s comfortable on his own for the time being although the rumor mill had Free linked to Cash Money and even G-Unit. “As of right now this second, we’re gonna do it ourselves,” said Freeway. “Everything you’ve been seeing for like the past year, ever since I did the thing with RhymeSayers,The Stimulus Package, everything after that has been independent.”
Although Freeway’s Team Early Enterprises has been serving him well, Sway threw out Young Jeezy and his CTE Music imprint as a possibility for the former Roc-A-Fella star and Freezer vaguely acknowledged the link all while showing the down south general major respect. “Shout out to Jeezy. That’s my man,” shared Freeway. “Jeezy’s another hardworking artist in the game and he has a great independent label. I’m a hard worker too and the brother recognized the work I put it so it’s definitely a possibility.”
Would Freeway joining Young Jeezy’s CTE Music label be a good look for Freezer? Tweet to us at @MTVRapFix or leave us a comment below.
