What better way to close out the much talked about U.S. Open with an appearance from hip-hop royalty Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Mr. and Mrs. Carter attended the final night of the Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Monday (September 12) in Queens, New York. Novak Djokovic defeated champion Rafael Nadal in the match to capture his first U.S. Open win.
A pregnant Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z have been spotted numerous times in public since the singer announced the couple were expecting their first child.
"In big matches, the winner is decided by small margins, a couple points. I guess the winner is the one who believes in victory more," said Novak Djokovic regarding his sweeping win.
"I guess it just clicked in my head. Through the last couple of years, I didn't change my game in any major way. ... But I'm hitting shots that maybe I wasn't hitting," he continued. "I'm going for it. I'm more aggressive."
Jay-Z and Beyonce weren't the only high-profile celebrities in attendance at a major sporting event on Monday night. Down in Miami actor and rapper Will Smith watched the Miami Dolphins along with actor Marc Anthony and basketball player Dwayne Wade as the Dolphins took on the New England Patriots. The Tom Brady led Pats crushed the Dolphins 38-24 with the star quarterback throwing a team-record 517 yards. Smith and Anthony flashed smiles at the camera numerous times from Anthony's private suite, downplaying any signs of a rift between the two men. Anthony is a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins.
"I'm good, I'm good. I'm good all the way around," Anthony said before Miami's season opener. "The family's great, the kids are great. Everything's good."
