2011 is shaping up to be another big year for Drake. The Young Money superstar is fresh off a major win at the BMI Awards, where he was tapped as Songwriter of the Year, not to mention the success of his two singles in rotation “Headlines” and “Marvins Room.” The singles are the first offerings from Drake’s upcoming sophomore album, Take Care, which the rapper plans to drop on his birthday, October 24. Another possible project thrown around earlier this year was a joint LP from Drizzy and Wayne.

“Me and Wayne agreed that there will be a Lil Wayne/ Drake album,” Drake told MTV News last year. “[This project] will probably be one of the most exciting things in my life, because we make music on a different level. It’s just so fun, so comfortable.”

“Wayne and I recently talked about [the Weezy/Drake collabo album],” YMCMB boss Birdman recently told XXLmag.com. “That’s definitely going to get done.”

Fast-forward to 2011 VMA weekend, and following up on Baby’s comments, Drizzy now says that his attention is fully on getting Take Care out to the public.

“I’m really focused on bringing Take Care out, that’s October 24, and I’m really excited about it,” Drake told RapFix from the BMI Urban Awards red carpet in L.A. on Friday. “Anything moving forward, I’ll figure that out afterwards, but right now it’s just about Take Care.”

Drake has also found himself in a bit of controversy following the release of Lil Wayne’s “It’s Good” track, which features Weezy taking a jab at Jay-Z. Drake is singing the same tune as the track’s other guest star, Jadakiss, telling us he has nothing to do with any potential beef on the record.

“I just got a beat and did a verse over it,” Drake said. “Whatever any other individual has to say, you have to ask the man himself. I just did what I know how to do. I just got on a record. I heard the beat, did a verse and heard the final product.”
