Singer-songwriter The-Dream and his highly publicized marriage and split from R&B starlet Christina Milian has been fodder for the blogs of late. After marrying Milian in 2009 and the birth of their daughter Violet, the couple announced their separation in the summer of 2010 after photos of The-Dream were posted to the web with his female assistant. While not necessarily apologetic but somewhat remorseful, the Atlanta hit maker opened up recently about his failed union.
Speaking with VIBE, The-Dream spoke candidly about him and Christina Milian’s martial problems. The singer born Terius Nash put much of the onus on himself but did elude there was more to the story to VIBE. “I’d rather be the bad guy than anybody else be the bad girl because I can handle it,” shared The-Dream. “It’s a bad thing that two people can break up, but the truth of the matter is that it happens all the time for different reasons.”
The-Dream continued with, “But what’s wrong with a public breakup is that they never really know the truth. And I won’t be the person who says it. I’m not going to be that type. If something breaks, it’s not something to celebrate.” The-Dream did share that the split from Milian will help fuel new music for the singer although it appears he doesn’t intend to throw his ex-wife under the bus. The-Dream also mentioned that his ex-wife has reached out for collaboration, which the songwriter dismissed while the divorce proceedings continue.
The-Dream will be releasing a free project 1977 on August 31.
