Looks like Nicki Minaj's rap talents have rubbed off on her inner circle. It's being reported Nicki's longtime friend and former hypeman Sarafee Samuels has decided to throw his hat in the ring and startup a rap career.
Sarafee, as referred to by close friends as SB has released his debut track titled "My Watch." The Gucci-Mane sampled tune has made it's way around the internet and is already causing quite a stir.
"All the h--s love me/They want my s--en/My watch is mad at me/My diamonds always screaming"
SB is no stranger to the big lights as the upstart MC has been with Nicki Minaj for the majority of her career. Sarafee served as Nicki's assistant for many years and more recently hit the stage with the Barbie serving as her hype man. However, it's since been reported that SB and Nicki have decided to part ways making a clear path for SB to embark on his rap career. When asked if a video for the clip would soon be on the way SB playfully tweeted "shot it already... All imma say is.. Moment of clarity.."
Speaking of Nicki, this weekend the rapper will give a first look at her new video “Fly” featuring R&B songbird Rihanna during the pre-show for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
After fellow collaborator Rihanna tweeted a teaser pic of the video shoot for “Fly” back in January, fans were anticipating the video although the Sanaa Hamri-directed clip for “Super Bass” dropped ahead of it. Hamri returns again to direct “Fly” which will get a special preview during the VMA Pre-Show – adding on to a big night for Nicki Minaj who has been nominated for three 2011 VMA awards including Best Rap Video for “Super Bass.”
Hosted by bubbly actress and singer Selena Gomez, the VMA Pre-Show will begin at 8 p.m. ET/PT where the Emmy Award-winning star will report on the happenings of the VMAs directly from the black carpet and catching up with fellow stars as they approach the venue. MTV News correspondents Sway Calloway, Jim Cantiello and James Montgomery will lend their journalistic expertise to Gomez as the star-studded event unfolds. Joining Gomez is pop band Cobra Starship who will be rocking their dance hit “You Make Me Feel” featuring Sabi.
The 2011 Video Music Awards are right around the corner (August 28, to be exact) and Nicki Minaj wants her Barbs and Kens to turn it out and make sure they're casting their votes for her.
"Fans should vote for me and Drizzy because they love us and we love them," said Nicki. "And we are the hungry, struggling, up-and-coming newbies, and you've all been new at one point in your life, so show the kids some love. Go on! Vote!"
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for Best New Artist at VMA.MTV.com.
