Lil Wayne is a man of his word. When he raps, he means it. Yesterday Weezy shocked the hip-hop community when a track leaked from off his Carter IV album titled “It’s Good” featuring Drake “Blake Griffin” and Jadakiss that may have just set off a brewing rap battle between Jay-Z and himself.
“Talk about Baby money, I got your baby money/Kidnap your bi–h, get that how much you love your lady money” Wayne raps on “It’s Good” responding to a previous jab from Jay-Z where the god MC took a swipe at YMCMB head Birdman and his “Baby money.”
Speaking out for the first time in regards to the track, Wayne says that fans shouldn’t expect him to back down from Hov or any MC for that matter.
“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did,” Wayne told VIBE. “I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”
The N’awlins native continued that he’s well aware of his actions and stands by them and accepts what comes with the territory. “I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record],” he explains. “I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is.”
This weekend is shaping out to be a major one for the superstar MC. On Sunday night Wayne will grace the stage for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards as one of a few selected performers for the evening. Immediately following the show, Wayne’s much anticipated album Tha Carter IV will be available digitally via Amazon. C4 has been waiting in the wings prior to Wayne’s incarceration on weapons charges and steadily building major buzz, most recently with his latest track “She Will” making the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100 this week at #3 for the rapper.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year’s highlights and vote for Best New Artist by visiting VMA.MTV.com.
