Lil Wayne, going straight edge after his release from prison last year, has learned the fine art of avoiding trouble – a skill few celebrities of his magnitude seem to master. The Young Money honcho has been on a breakneck road grind with the “I Am Still Music” tour going strong in its second leg. While rocking out with our neighbors to the north in Canada, Wayne narrowly missed an incident at a Montreal nightclub and showed wise judgment in avoiding further risk to his safety and career.
Lil Wayne has been in Canada playing a trio of dates in the country, with a show on Wednesday (August 17) at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The rapper was slated to party at downtown nightclub La Mouche, hosting a party in supplemental support of his Canadian tour dates. The nightclub was evacuated just before Wayne arrived at the venue as a result of an unknown patron releasing pepper spray into the ventilation system in the wee hours of the morning. About 300 people were asked to leave the club to escape any harm.
No injuries were reported at La Mouche and upon witnessing the gathering of folks outside of the club, Lil Wayne and his entourage opted to skip the event – no doubt to protect the safety and interest of Wayne and crew. Lil Wayne’s Wednesday show went off without a hitch although security officials doubled their ranks as a precaution.
Lil Wayne’s next stop is the Molson Amphitheatre tonight (August 19).
