Jay-Z and Kanye West have been busy. After performing in New York City on Monday as part of Young Jeezy’s Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 anniversary concert it seems that The Throne (the name of Jay and ’Ye’s newly christened group) jetted to L.A. to meet up with director Spike Jonze and shoot a video for their new Watch the Throne single “Otis.”
You can’t tell much judging from these images from the video set, but RapFix bets that Hov and Yeezy will be photoshoot fresh in the upcoming clip. Though details are still sketchy, we can all have a little fun with it can’t we? We’d like for you guys to write up your dream treatment for the “Otis” video in the comment section and we’ll see who can come the closest to The Throne’s vision when the video is actually released.
The large American does provide some sort of clue, as it also resembles the single’s cover art which was designed by Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci. Are Jigga and Kanye getting all patriotic on us? Not bad for a couple of immigrants right?
On July 20, DJ Funkmaster Flex premiered the track on hits Hot 97 radio show in New York. The song which samples Otis Redding’s 1966 version of “Try a Little Tenderness” finds the two MCs flowing for eight bars a piece before passing the mic back and forth several times.
Watch the Throne will be released exclusively on iTunes August 8th and then will be available at physical retail stores and other digital outlet on August 12.
