Atlanta’s own Shawty Lo stopped by RapFix Live yesterday (July 13) to chop it up on the couches with host Sway and the newly signed G-Unit Records artist had plenty to say about his label D4L Records, who signed over to 50 Cent's team back in June for a hefty sum. Aiming to promote not only his artists and the entire south, Shawty Lo humbly gave props to Fif for the opportunity and a chance to show off ATL’s best product.
However when Sway asked Shawty about the state of Atlanta’s rap scene naming Ludacris and Young Jeezy, it was Sway’s question regarding the recently freed Gucci Mane that got the D4L rapper to open up the most. “Gucci doing good now, he just came home the other day, “said Shawty. “He back working, shooting a lot of videos and doing his thing.” Shawty also added that the hardworking Gucci has shot four clips so far since his release. Shawty's words rang true as Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame just released a video for "Hottest Rapper" featuring Kash off Gucc's The Movie Part 2 mixtape.
Sway dug in and asked Shawty Lo about he and Gucci’s personal relationship, which the “They Know [Dey Know]” star considers as being close by referring to him as a brother. Sway also got Shawty to reveal details about the pair’s convo while Gucci was away and what the “Lemonade” rapper’s next moves are. “Basically, just to get off that paperwork like the probation. It seem like that can keep you in there and keep holding you down,” shared Shawty. He then added, “I think he’s off probation now and his focus is his music and family.”
Big shout to Shawty Lo for giving RapFix Live the lowdown on Gucci Mane and the rest of the Atlanta rap scene.
