This past Wednesday’s (June 29) episode of "RapFix Live" was another special one as Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D. Music represented heavily on the couches with our host Sway holding down the interview duties.
Guests CyHi The Prynce and new G.O.O.D. Music recruit out of Nigeria D’Banj both graciously took on Sway’s inquiries with ease. However, D’Banj impressed Sway at the end with a customary freestyle verse even though he doesn’t consider himself a rapper. First was CyHi's slick-tongued verse that opened the show, then later it was D'Banj who impressed viewers at the end with an international-flavored freestyle verse. The funny thing is the Nigerian talent doesn't even consider himself a rapper – go figure!
D’Banj closed the show down with what seemed to be an actual off-the-cuff freestyle, even referring to himself as the “African Michael Jackson.” Speeding up his delivery just a bit, D’Banj even gave Sway and G.O.O.D. Music a shout during his verse – ending this latest edition of "RapFix Live" on an entertaining note.
Before D’Banj torched the studio with his entertaining and confident verse, "RapFix Live" fans tweeted to us some new nickname suggestions for the African star. Some of the names offered such as D’Money, D’Banj Da Entertainer and BigApple Biter – the last which both D’Banj and Sway gave the big thumbs down to. However, one that got D’Banj the most excited was “The King Of AfroPop” – declaring that when he’s in America that will be his moniker of choice after a little nudging from Sway.
