Producing since 1996, Denaun “Mr. Porter” Porter has made his mark as a beat maker crafting hits for G-Unit captain 50 Cent and working alongside rap legends such as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Method Man and also Eminem. Formerly known as Kon Artis as a rapper with Eminem’s D12 outfit, Mr. Porter has a new feather to add to a pretty full cap – executive producer of Bad Meets Evil’s latest EP Hell: The Sequell.

In a chat with MTV News and our own Sway on the set of the Bad Meets Evil “Fast Lane video shoot, Mr. Porter was humbled by his old friend Slim Shady’s confidence in his work by bestowing him with the co-executive producer credit, especially after such a long career of going unnoticed. “This is my first executive producer, co-executive producer [credit],” said the low-key Mr. Porter to Sway. “It’s my first time. I’ve set goals but I didn’t think this was going to be that.”

Although he’s done steady work behind the boards for years, the Detroit native wasn’t high on many lists although he’s responsible for helping launch Eminem’s career by producing his debut album Infinite in 1996. However, Mr. Porter seems fine with his lack of notoriety in the public sphere – which now seems to be on the decline. “I’m not the kind of producer where I’m gonna say, ‘Yo, I did this, I did this, I did this.’ I want it to be my work,” said the proud Mr. Porter.

With that kind of humility and having produced four of nine tracks for Bad Meets Evil’s Hell: The Sequel EP, fans should expect to hear more from Mr. Porter and perhaps hit the back catalog to see how much work the Motor City music man has put in over the last 15 years.
