50 Cent isn’t going to let not being on the same page with his record label stop him from making moves. Earlier today, Funkmaster Flex premiered a new song from the G-Unit general called “Outlaw,” that is the first single from his forthcoming new album.
Earlier today, 50 aired out his grievances with his longtime Interscope label over Twitter. “Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh*t feels like there moving in slow motion,” 50 tweeted. “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page. I would rather not launch my album with out a plan the whole system is executing. I don’t know why they play with me they know how I get.”
From there the “I Get Money” rapper followed up with a couple of more tweets that expressed his frustration with his label not moving at a rate he’s comfortable with when it comes to his music.
“My whole career iv been doing sh-t and they have been playing catch up this is the last f–king album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK,” he tweeted, before weaving in some information about Dr. Dre’s Detox album. “I’m on that DRE sh-t boy guess when my sh-t coming out WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT. LMAO.”
But despite declaring that his new album is essentially on hold, 50 let loose his new single. “Outlaw” is produced by Cardiak and features Fif rapping with an aggressive flow over a track laced with sharp drums and shimmering synth. “You wanna get shot, go ahead run up on my spot, my lawyers will have me out by 1 o’clock,” barks 50 at the start of the song’s second verse.
“Outlaw’s” chorus features 50 chanting, “Outlaw, yeah yeah we lawless, We ballin’ out yeah regardless/VVS yeah yeah we flawless/You do what you gotta do, we do what we wanna do.”
Conspiracy theorists are also going to be debating whether or not the song’s opening bars (“If ni–as so hot, why they ain’t got what i got/My Maybach, my watch, my Hublot,” spits 50.) are a veiled shot at Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group.
Formerly, the title of 50 Cent’s new album was reportedly called Black Magic with a release date of sometime in the summer. But the album now appears to be untitled with no release date.
