Record spinner and recording artist DJ Drama is taking his hustle back to the days before he made a franchise from out of his household Gangsta Grillz brand with the same mechanics applied on his upcoming Gangsta Grillz 3: The Album. For his third album, Drama put the fate of his project into his own hands, starting with the first single “Oh My.” For the visual, Drama got Roscoe Dash, Fabolous and Wiz Khalifia together for his latest club anthem.
“I dropped it a couple of months ago, it was a record that I had to work” Drama told MTV. “I saw early on the feedback was really good. Thankfully I was able to shoot the video really quick with a lot of hectic schedules.”
The clip for “Oh My” debuted on MTV JAMS last week and it immediately secured the highly acclaimed Jam of The Week spot on the network.
“The song is crazy, killing the clubs” Dram noted. “People loving the video. Derek Pike came with the movie theme, we shot it in Miami, Atlanta and New York. The video is like the limitless drug. Good looking out MTV JAMS.”
Dram spent the weekend testing the waters with his new single and new mixtape featuring Young Jeezy on their reunion cut, The Real is Back, in Miami. According to Drama, the Atlanta residents were plotting the past few weeks on making a splash with the mixtape during the holiday weekend.
“The energy is crazy” Drama said referring to the mixtape release. “We been talking for like maybe three months. Since the beginning of the year we were going back and forth. We talked a lot and didn’t want too much to get out there. I did a couple of tweets, I would give a couple of hints.”
Dram also revealed how the title of the mixtape came about.
“We went over a lot of names” Drama said. “Two, three weeks ago we said we gotta make Memorial weekend. I think a lot of weekends, Memorial Day, All-Star it’s important cause everybody will be in the same place. The fact it’s me and Jeezy, it’s been five years. It was really important. It worked out really good. I told him, I feel like it’s even better doing it now cause it’s much more organic. We just had been talking again and this time it felt like it really made sense. I knew when I got the music it was what n—as wanted to hear. I understand and appreciate the excitement when people here a project like Young Jeezy.”
