There seems to be no limit to Tyler, the Creator’s creativity or sense of humor. In a 30-second promotional video for his upcoming album Goblin, the Odd Future front man plays Thurnis Haley, a 53-year old golf enthusiast. Thurnis, dressed in a sweater vest, shorts and knee-high green socks claims to “eat golf,” “sleep golf” and have marital problems with his wife due to the large amount of times that he spends on the links.
Tyler’s alter-ego also sports a thick mustache and a hearty laugh, similar to comedian Steve Harvey, who OFWGKTA have thrown quite a few disses at. Could the new Thurnis Haley clip be yet another shot at Harvey?
There is no telling where Thurnis will pop up next, but OF fans will no doubt be on the lookout as Goblin’s May 10 release date gets closer.
Last week, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All was spotlighted as a part of MTV’s “New West” MCs. Celebrated for their indie-grind and unique brand of music, the Wolf Gang has risen through rap’s ranks in an unconventional way. There were the collection of underground Internet albums released through the group’s Tumblr page, a groundbreaking appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk show, Tyler’s controversial video for “Yonkers” and a spirited outing at this year’s SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.
No one really knows what the future holds for Tyler and his crew, but be sure to check with RapFix as we continue to document the group’s growth.
