For Nicki Minaj, the last two days have been a whirlwind for the Young Money diva as a leaked audio snippet hit the Web highlighting lyrics aimed directly at longtime veteran rapper Lil Kim. The track, for now titled “Tragedy,” features some sharp barbs towards the Queen Bee and even a nod to the longtime dancehall and neighborhood feud between the nicknamed areas of Jamaica, Gaza and Gully.
Fans have hit the Web with a blaze of comments, with both artists getting support and criticism from all sides. Surprisingly enough, fans on Twitter have seemingly sided with the arguably less popular but no less relevant Lil Kim. “I Think That Tragedy Song By Nicki Minaj Is Wack, Lil Kim Went Harder on Black Friday,” tweeted @Love_Mariyah. “We just was listenin to that Nicki Minaj – Tragedy s–t, She is so ASSSSSS,” added @ReefSaunders_4.
Not everyone on Twitter was against the Pink Friday star, however. “Nicki Minaj – Tragedy .. I mess with this song! She went in, once again!” tweeted @JellyB_. @KIDDDK1 added on, “#Ouch.. I love kim but #ouch.”
On popular site This Is 50, fans commented in droves with their disdain of Nicki Minaj’s attack although there were smatterings of approval amongst the dissent. “Dag Nikki, this was a really bad move for you. You should have kept it quiet like you did up till now and kept it moving,” commented Em Battle. Another commenter added, “Niki is extremmely wack. Kim is going to wup the the silicones out that tramp.”
Several pro-Nicki fans did chime up in retaliation to the negative comments. “[P]pl wake u seriously sayin kim still has it!? c’mon son!” said Kost17inho. Commenter Elwood Mob took it back a bit with his salvo. “Niki runs s—t over kim! Sorry Kim youre done! You should have quit when my dude 2pac DISMANTLED YO ASS!” the user added.
