Grammy nominated R&B singer Angie Stone was arrested on Sunday (March 27) for driving with a suspended license in Georgia.
TMZ reports that Stone was pulled over for speeding. It was then that officers discovered that her driver’s license was also suspended. The Columbia, South Carolina native was subsequently arrested and released about an hour later.
In 2006, Stone appeared on the fourth season of the VH1 reality series Celebrity Fit Club. In the 80s, Stone was known as Angie B. and part of female hip-hop trio The Sequence, that were signed to Sugar Hill Records. As for her personal life, she has a son with enigmatic R&B singer D’Angelo and has songwriting credits on both of his albums (Brown Sugar, Voodoo).
Along with artists like Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq and the aforementioned D’Angelo, the “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” singer was part of the Neo Soul music movement of the mid to late 1990s. Stone’s proper debut solo album, Black Diamond, was released in 1999 and is certified gold. Her last album, Unexpected, her fifth, was released in 2009 on the revamped Stax Records to generally positive reviews.
