What Would A Jay-Z And Gwyneth Paltrow Collabo Sound Like?

Picture this, Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow mixing her singing chops with the rhymes of Jay-Z. Sounds about as far fetched as Paltrow singing with…Cee-Lo Green.

Well, being that Cee-Lo and Paltrow performed a joint rendition of the former’s hit “F–k You” at the Grammy Awards a few weeks ago (the actress sang her own version of the song on Fox’s Glee), why not rock with Hov? Gwyneth flexed her vocal chords yesterday at last night’s Academy Awards and we thought it would be interesting to consider which songs from the Brooklyn MC and mogul’s catalog could get a “Paltrow Remix.”

“Empire State of Mind” – this is the obvious choice. Swipe out Alicia Keys’ crooning for Paltrow’s and you have an updated take on this new NYC anthem.

“Can’t Knock the Hustle”
– the lead off song from Jay-Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt, has aged like fine wine. Mary J. blessed the original, so it would be interesting to see if Paltrow could do its chorus justice.

“What More Can I Say?”
– The song opens with dialogue from Gladiator (“Are you not entertained?”) so there goes your blatant Oscar connection. The original features singing from a male vocalist so let’s see what some female vocals could add to this underrated gem from Hov.

“Run This Town”
– Rihanna is getting plenty of press lately thanks to her album, guest spots and most recently Twitter beef. Yeah, it’s all black everything, but maybe Gwyneth could bring her own flair to the hook.

“Big Chips”
– Jay-Z’s short Best of Both Worlds alliance with R. Kelly ended infamously. Let Gwyneth handle R’s vocals, problem solved. Just no N-words, please. Besides, her singing the hook for “Take You Home with Me (A.K.A. Body)” would be a tough sell.
