Is Lil Wayne back in trouble with the law?
It appeared that way after DEA agents swarmed the Young Money CEO at Opa-Loca Airport in Miami as the rapper exited his plane late last week. The agents performed a search for contraband on the New Orleans native, who is currently on felony probation stemming from gun and drug charges incurred in 2009. However, officers ended up empty handed as Weezy’s plane and person were both free of any drugs or firearms and they let the briefly detained rapper go about his way.
Lending credence to the claim that he’s been free of drugs and alcohol since his release from the Rikers Island prison facility late last year, this latest run-in with police officials should serve as a slight warning to the rapper as he continues to integrate himself back into public life after serving a year behind bars.
Lil Wayne has kept busy in the meantime by recording a few cameos, most notably with the platinum selling rap diva Nicki Minaj for a remix of her blistering “Roman’s Revenge” remix and a recently released snippet of a mixtape track “You & I.”
The wildly popular rapper is also embarking on a major tour this year along with Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and rock drummer Travis Barker in tow. The 24-city North American leg of the tour begins this spring. The southern rap star is also hard at work to complete his The Carter IV album, which has no official release date at this time.
