Lil Wayne Meets Tech N9ne … Again

By Rahman J. Dukes

Lil Wayne may have finally gotten his wish. From the looks at the above photo Weezy and underground king Tech N9ne recently shared a recording session months after Weezy gave a wish list of MCs he was looking forward to recording with, one of them being the Kansas City MC.

“I’ve been saying to myself that I really want to do a song with either Andre 3000 or my man…Tech N9ne,” Wayne told Funkmaster Flex last year while on his “vacation.” “Other than that, I’ve been really trying to do a song with this little dude, this boy Weezy. That boy Weezy, he’s stupid [laughs].”

At the mid-point of his sentence on weapons charges while sitting in the “penthouse suite” at Rikers Island’s Eric M. Taylor Center Unit, Wayne surprised many fans who were listening to his first prison interview when he rattled off his post-prison studio dreams. Not long after mentioning Tech, the rapper welcomed the soon to be collaboration with open arms.

“His people have been contacting us already, so I’m anxious to see what he sends me,” N9ne said in an interview. “I’m hearing his camp is all ready to send over some music. And I’ll be in New York soon so hopefully I can visit him before he gets out. I just want to thank Wayne for even mentioning me. I’ve been following his career since he started. Just watching him evolve–he was always clever with the rhymes. My own quest was always to get my music out to everybody in [the] world and working with Wayne is truly a way to get it out there.”

A few weeks after the interview the two met during a three hour visit on the Island.

“If anybody got anything bad to say bout Wayne, don’t say it to me cause that’s a real n**** I just visited in there” Tech N9ne tweeted following the visit. Fast-forward months later the dynamic duo hooked up at an undisclosed studio (pause). There’s been no word where the track will land but one would assume a Tech N9ne collaboration may pop up on the upcoming Carter IV.

Now that Tech is out of the way, is it too soon to hope for an Andre 3000/Lil Wayne collabo?
