Fans Weigh In On Lil Wayne’s ‘Black And Yellow’ Remix

By D.L. Chandler

Is Lil Wayne drawing a line in the sand between him and Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa? Not so, says Tunechi. The Young Money CEO recorded a playful remix of Wiz’s big hit “Black and Yellow” titled “Green and Yellow” in honor of his favorite football team, the NFC Champion Green Bay Packers, who face up against the AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers this coming Sunday at Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas.

After carefully announcing that “this is not a dis song” before borrowing nearly every stylistic element of the original song, Lil Wayne’s pro-Packer lines are delivered with the same hazy confidence and punch Wiz displays on the original but the twist of course are the actual lyrics.

Says Lil Wayne, “Money green, yellow broad/ Aaron Rodgers, MVP award/ This is Green Bay, bitch we go hard/ This is Packer Country, where ya green card?/ Terrible towels, that sh–’s borin’/ We got the ball, you know we scorin’/ Yeah, and that’s how we rockin’ heavy metal/ I’m up in this bitch wit’ more Bloods than a blood vessel/ Pitt goin’ down, say hello to the devil/ Just beat the Bears, now we got the Steelers on the schedule/ Yeah, no love for ‘em boy, break ya hearts/ We gon’ toast these n—as, pop tarts.”

Fan reaction to the track around the blogosphere has been mixed, with many calling into question Weezy’s true loyalty to the team although the New Orleans rhyme spitter has said time and again that he’s been a Packer fan since 1995, stemming from his support of then-quarterback Brett Favre. However, some of his fans don’t seem convinced.

“He is a Packers fan. During his ESPN internship he made it known he was Favre’d up in Green and Yellow; him and Favre are also good friend and has sent Wayne weekly blessing when he was in jail. He’s legit,” Chris Searl said on Rap Radar.

“HA!!!! THIS WAS ACTUALLY ENTERTAINING!!!! BUT I SWEAR THIS N—A CHANGES TEAMS EVERY YEAR!!! JUST PICK A DAMN TEAM AND STICK WIT IT!!!!….AND I GOT THE PACKERS 27-24!!!!” shared an enthusiastic mac DIESEL on Rap Radar.
