Multi-faceted businessman 50 Cent certainly knows how to work the media to his advantage. The rapper used this weekend’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah as a platform to announce some big features for his upcoming studio album.
“I just flew from Detroit. I’m working with Em on my new album,” 50 told reporters while at the festival.
In the midst of the pomp and media that surrounds the lauded film festival, the rapper born Curtis Jackson used the moment to list some of the stars set to appear on his fifth studio album Black Magic. Along with G-Unit soldier Lloyd Banks, Fif has also enlisted Lil’ Kim, Busta Rhymes, Akon, Swizz Beatz and the artist who gave him his largest break, Eminem.
The G-Unit mogul headed to Sundance to unveil his latest film “Gun” and to reveal breaking news that he and world champion boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr. are now business associates. Mayweather, the sometimes controversial and flamboyant prizefighter, will be financing an upcoming film said to be written and directed by 50 Cent titled “Tomorrow Today.” The film begins shooting this summer and will be released via 50’s Cheetah Vision film company.
Jackson’s business acumen is strong as ever with the Queens rapper inking a $200 million dollar deal with film distributor Lions Gate to produce 10 films via the Cheetah Vision imprint. While the multi-platinum selling rapper has enjoyed high success in nearly every venture he’s undertaken, according to this Reuters blog report [ the rapper still feels that he’s “a work in progress” on the film front.
