While The Diplomats are set to appear on our "RapFix Live" couch this Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, things weren't always so fluid between the gentlemen. Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey suffered a very public rift that stalled the group's collaborations and left their fans hoping for a reconciliation. However in 2010, Cam'ron began recording with Harlem's own Vado and releasing their Boss of All Bosses 2.5 mixtape with DJ Drama, the Dipset leader seemed to have buried the hatchet.
"Jim's got a good work ethic too. His work ethic is crazy," Cam'ron said last year of he and Jones' reunion. "He's in the studio all the time. I'm in the studio. The producer AraabMuzik is signed to DukeDaGod. Araab went and took Jim some beats. I already had the beat [for 'Salute']. Jim said, 'Let's do something to this.' We got it done. Read More...

Despite murky copyright laws, the Department of Homeland Security could not keep website OnSmash down for long. After having their original domain seized by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and Homeland Security Investigations in late November 2010, the popular blog destination for the latest and upcoming hip-hop music returned yesterday (January 18) at FreeOnSmash.
"I purchased the domain shortly after Onsmash.com was seized," the site’s founder, Kevin "Hof" Hofman said.
Reaction to the over-zealousness of authorities in shuttering the website last Thanksgiving Day was swift, with artists and fans bemoaning the fact that an outlet for new music from up-and-coming acts was unfairly targeted. Read More...
Kelis and son Knight took a stroll through Los Angeles recently. Knight is Kelis' first child with ex-husband Nas.
Last week, the Los Angeles County Superior Court reportedly cut the financial support the MC was paying divorcee/singer Kelis by half, according to court documents rustled up by TMZ. The Queens native will be paying a bit over $5,000 a month in child support and $20,00 in spousal support.
It’s a pretty penny but not nearly as much when compared to what Nas was initially subject to hand over. The Distant Relatives rapper was originally ordered to pay an estimated amount of $500,000 per month in child and spousal support, in support of Kelis and Knight. Read More...

Compared to his fellow rappers, Lil Wayne has been relatively quiet since emerging from prison last November. A little too quiet, if you ask his fans. Sure, he dropped a series of show-stealing bars on his comeback single "6 Foot 7 Foot" in December, but he hasn't dropped nearly the amount of music that we predicted he would at the end of 2010.
Fortunately, he's already starting to make up for it in 2011. On "Roman's Revenge 2.0" — a track that leaked to the Internet on Monday afternoon — Wayne borrows the beat from Nicki Minaj and Eminem's Pink Friday collaboration, "Roman's Revenge," to prove that he's still just as potent on the microphone as ever. But was he able to upstage the performance Em delivered on the original? Let's find out. Read More...

It was only a matter of time.
Nicki Minaj hits the stage of NBC’s "Saturday Night Live," hosted by "The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg, on January 29. You know what that means: It's time to guess what the femcee will perform and what you, the fans, would like to see.
We can’t wait to see what the Queens-native will wear — this show is after all where Lady Gaga wore that gyro-scope outfit, while miraculously playing the piano at the same time — but we’re far more excited to hear what Barbie will perform. Read More...
