Nickel Nine called in to the "All Out Show" hosted by Rude Jude and Lord Sear on Shade 45 on Thursday (January 13) to officially announce the signing of Slaughterhouse and Southern spitter Yelawolf and talk about some recently leaked songs — released without his permission — featuring his new label boss and old friend Eminem.
"We’ve been doing a little bit of stuff, when we got time," the baritone-voiced Detroit nativeshared. "Thanks to the hackers, every time we get a chance to do something, they steal it and leak it."
The track "Echo," which Royce referred to, hit the Internet last November to quite a bit of fanfare along with Royce’s disdain.
"The finished version is nothing like that," the audibly angered rapper said. "I think, and this is just a thought, we think somebody took it in pieces and put it together [themselves]."
When speaking directly about the new Shady Records deal, Royce kept his answers safe but assured listeners that a release date for Slaughterhouse's next album is coming soon. The project may even include a track with the legendary Dr. Dre now that they’re firmly under the Aftermath umbrella.
"It’ll be an honor to get Dre production, to get right to that," he said. "That’s definitely somebody I want to try to work with if that’s possible. Our goal is to try to have [the album] out [in] 2011. We also want to take our time on it and get it right. The last album we did in six days."
As noted in RapFix’s list on Eminem recruiting the gentlemen, the pressure for the crew to make hits is sure to increase now that they’re officially a part of a major label. It should also be noted that all four MCs have had major label deals prior to Shady at varying stages of their individual careers and Royce assured the audience that his new boss supports the crew’s potential.
"Em told me just do exactly what ya’ll did on the first album, and ya’ll [will] be fine," Nickel said. "I’m sure at some point I’m gonna feel like 'Yo, we need either a hit or something radio will get behind."
Royce, primarily a solo artist like the rest the foursome, is currently working on his fifth studio album Success Is Certain, which is slated for a late April release. Slaughterhouse will also perform at New York's Highline Ballroom on February 8.
