Kid Cudi Hosts Man On The Moon II Album Listening

By Steven Roberts

Last night (October 27), Kid Cudi introduced his new album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager to a selection of industry insiders in downtown New York. The event took place at Don Hill, a dark and smoke filled bar—from an actual smoke machine, silly— which not only looked really cool, but also helped to set the mood for the LP.

Cudi stopped by the MTV News office on Tuesday to talk about his much-anticipated album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. And before we even sat down to get started, he was really excited to play us his new album and each of the MTV News staff that listened was blown away to say the least.

Like his first album Man on the Moon: The End of the Day, Mr. Rager is again separated into different acts, but this time Common isn’t there to narrated each portion with a foreword. Still, the album’s story flows much more naturally and each song sounds like its own separate dream scape.

So when I walked into the smoke-filled, hazy bar, I immediately saw what Cudi was going for. It look like we had all walked into his imagination. Once the MC arrived at Don Hill’s, sporting a Freddy Kruger glove, he walked around and greeted as many people as possible and thanked them for their attendance. He hit the stage further thanking everyone and explained the room’s atmosphere. He asked everyone to enjoy themselves, and to feel free to contribute their own smoke just before the music and strobe lights cut on.
