“Oh you fancy, huh? You fancy, huh?” Don’t be surprised to hear Drake rapping those very words to a backdrop draped by a swarm of dime pieces at this year’s Video Music Awards. After all, we do know the boy wonder is a ladies’ man.

Grammy Awards, #1 Billboard debut, platinum albums, shut down shows in New York City, you name it. Drizzy has had a banner year, and come this Sunday, he plans to raise the stakes yet again, and maybe take a Moonman or two with him back across the Canadian border.

Hit the jump for more on Drake’s performance …

This afternoon, in front of a crowd of young kids and his Young Money family, Drake rehearsed his set for the awards that turned into a party-like atmosphere. Picking up where his Rat Pack-inspired VMA promo left off, Drake was bouncing around the stage at the Nokia Theatre like a kid running hogwild in a candy store, grinning from ear to ear as his smash hit “Fancy” rained down from the theater’s sound system. This wasn’t your typical performance rehearsal.

Backstage, Driz chopped it up with Sway, where he elaborated on the theme of his first VMA performance.

“I watched the Rat Pack live at the Copa Room,” Drake recalled. “It was just so relaxed. They were smoking cigarettes and drinking Jack. It was women everywhere. It wasn’t, ‘Let’s just rap and be epic and be huge.’ They were like, ‘I really run this. Me and Sammy and Dean.’ I wanted to get up there and look fly.”
