Things just keep getting better and better for Rick Ross. The embattled rapper, who embodied the title of his latest album Teflon Don, has had yet another all-star year culminating in arguably the best hip-hop album of 2010 (take that, Canadian boy wonder).
As if his massive ode to Detroit kingpin “Big Meech” weren’t enough on “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” not to mention his alliance with Bad Boy Records mogul Diddy, Ross has one more trick to pull out of his hat come Sunday night at the 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards. It was only a few years ago when Ross took the backseat at the VMAs when he was just a rookie in this wonderful world of rap. But as his enlightener the Notorious B.I.G. once spit “things done changed.”
Earlier this afternoon, Ross and the brass at MTV were cooking up something special to put “asses in seats,” as they say at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. Ross’ in-house A&R/lensman Spiff was on hand to witness the moment and was amazed himself.
“It’s gonna be one of the biggest VMAs,” Spiff told RapFix. “It’s huge when I see all the big-name seats where the artists are sitting, and I see my brother Ross and right next to him is Paula Abdul. We were both amazed how much they put into the awards show. Ross said the set looked like Pandora from “Avatar.”
The Video Music Awards are always guilty of giving viewers unexpected treats, and this coming weekend will be no different from any in the past. Remember the muscle-bound Dr. Dre look a few years back at the end of the show? Michael Jackson joining ‘NSYNC for a dance cipher years back. Kanye West’s premiere of “Love Lockdown” two years ago. That’s right, Ross has one of those looks tucked under his Maybach trunk. Sunday night. MTV. Stay tuned …
What do you expect Rick Ross to do at the VMAs on Sunday?
